Jamaican Dancehall deejay, Desmond ‘ Ninja Man’ Ballentine who recently served a three year prison sentence at the Horizon Adult Remand Center, gave viewers (above) insight into his ‘busy’ and eventful life.
46 year old Ninja Man aka. the The ‘Original Don Gorgon’is considered as one of Dancehall’s best lyricists and engaging well-loved performers, from way back in the 1980’s when he first launched his career. He is popularly known for hit songs such as ‘Permit to Bury’,
During his career, Ninja has had numerous run-ins with the law and is currently serving a prison sentence, where he was charged along with his son Janiel and two others, in connection with a March 2009 Kingston murder of a 20 year old man. According to Irie FM sources , both father and son were granted J$2 million bail in March 2012, and scheduled to appear in court on July 16, 2012.
At one point Ballentine said he was converted to Christianity, and even changed his name to ‘Brother Desmond’, no longer singing the ‘gun tunes’ he is known for, but we do not know what happened along the way….such a talented and well-loved entertainer, hope he gets his act together this time around.
He proudly highlighted that he has 29 children from 28 different baby mothers, waiting to see his ‘new’ wife’ who will be arriving in the island shortly from the United States, his unique way of helping to lower crime and more..check out the Pt 2 of the interview below:
