Happy Birthday to Reggae Legend Dennis Emmanuel Brown! The Crown Prince of Reggae, a term dubbed for the singer by the legendary Bob Marley (Wikipedia), would have celebrated his 55th birthday on a day like today. (February 1, 1957- July 1, 1999)

Brown has made a remarkable contribution to Reggae Music worldwide. He has enjoyed BillBoard success with his popular song, ‘Love Has Found Its Way’ from his album with said title, as well as, ‘The Crown Prince of Reggae: Singles 1972-1985′ album, which was also nominated for a Grammy Award.

D. Brown as he is affectionately called, was popularly known worldwide for his jaw-dropping live performances, charismatic delivery both on and off the stage and amazing vocal range. He recorded over 200 singles and approximately 75 albums (Wikipedia) during his career, many of which became hits, to name a few, ‘Stop the Fighting’ (so early in the morning),’Money In My pocket’, ‘Any Day Now’, ‘Halfway up, Halfway Down’, ‘Senorita’. Brown did his last show in El Salvador, Brazil June 1999, where he passed away shortly after in July 1999, from a Respiratory Heart Failure.

In August 2011, to mark the 49th Anniversary celebration of Jamaica’s Independence, the Governor General conferred upon the late singer, an Order of Distinction (CD) for his postive contribution to Jamaican Music Industry.

R.I.P Dennis Brown to one of Jamaica’s greats….Respect to the Reggae Legends who have paved the way for artistes nowadays and the Reggae Music Industry as a whole!
