NEW!! Music Video: Demarco ‘Kingston City’

by Natalie Monique

Dancehall Reggae artiste Demarco recently released a brand, new Music Video ‘Kingston City’, directed by Ricke Films. The video is shot in the gritty streets, expressing his inner-city life experiences in Kingston and seems to contain some deep seated feelings, at some points in the song resulting in graphic, ‘colorful’ lyrics…

Though still displaying his usual thought-provoking content, his delivery in this one is a little more ‘out there’ than the laid back vibe in his more recent tunes, as he speaks his raw truth…check it out:

New! Gappy Ranks and Delly Ranks ‘Could a runaway’

by Natalie Monique Staff

The music video for the powerful collaboration from Gappy Ranks and Delly Ranks ‘Could a runaway’, was recently released.

According to sources, Jamaican-Dominican reggae artiste, Gappy Ranks has had to deal with harsh issues growing up such as homelessness, and run-ins with the law. After he was able to overcome this, he decided to settle down and focus on his music, using this as his outlet to stay focused and positive.

He has worked with a number of artistes such as American Rapper, Twista. Gappy Ranks was recently in Japan during the ruthless earthquake. He tweeted, “I Am Safely Back In The UK From Japan – Thanks For All The Emails ,Tweets & Pings – Bless To Everybody Who Was Concerned – #Pray for Japan”

Veteran DJ, Delly Ranks, is no stranger to the Dancehall, he gave up his aspirations of becoming an airline pilot to pursue his musical dreams. The multi-talented artiste has also been delving alot into the production aspect of the music, and has recently teamed up with Stephen ‘DiGenius’ McGregor to produce the hit riddims , ‘Red Bull and Guiness’ and ‘Ghetto Whiskey’ to name a few.

The song speaks about how easy it is to run away in order to avoid trying situations and even turning to illegal or negative options to overcome them. The duo chant that they rather struggle and be positive, believing that one day things will get better.

The powerful message is quite refreshing, for new Reggae, and the beat indeed catching. Impressive….Love it!
