After the awesome performance by 16 year old US Olympic Gold medal gymnast Gabby Douglas, surprisingly a few detractors decided to focus on the state of her hair during the games *side stare*. This became a highly discussed topic and her mother later explained to the public that Gabby was living with a white host family, who was not familiar with caring for her afro hair type, but did the best they could.
Not that any intelligent people even cared about her hair..but this was indeed a sweet gesture by Celebrity stylist Ted Gibson who also works with TV show “What Not To Wear”. A sure silencer–> The Daily Beast sources say Douglas’ agent and team reached out to Gibson, so he could add his high profile status to squash the argument once and for all. They say Gibson mainly does adult hair and a simple cut usually costs $950.
Ted Gibson, Product developer and Hair Stylist to the stars has worked with top celebritites and Fashion Publications such as Angelina Jolie, Kate Gosseline, Gabrielle Union, Anne Hathaway, Vogue, Vanity Fair and Marie Claire.
Gibson agreed to being a part of Gabby’s success, unlike the ’empty barrels’ who were making unnecessary comments about the amazingly talented teenager Gabby Douglas’ hair. He transformed her practical ‘loose ponytail’ into soft curly wisps with a side part, revealing lustrous shoulder length hair (above).
He believed all the talk had to take a toll on her….how could it not? he said. He told our source: “I couldnt believe it and still cant. You have this young girl doing amazing things and the conversation becomes about her hair? It was ridiculous and shameful.” He continued, “Its tricky because Gabby is 16 and I dont want to do anything to make her look like 25 years old…together with her vision I hope we can create something thats easy and looks great no matter what she’s doing or where she is. I hope to create something that makes her feel good about herself as well…”
Gabby recently tweeted and posted pics of her ‘new image’: ‘A special thank you to my Gold Medal Celebrity Hair Stylist! @tedgibsonbeauty’
