Curacao may be considered one of the smaller islands, but proving it will not be outdone. Fashion week has been adopted in various prestigious cities across the world, such as Milan, Paris, London and Miami…in other islands such as Trinidad and of course we know of fast growing, global trend setting Caribbean Fashion Week.
The Curacao International Fashion Week will take place during the week of May 21st – 25th, 2012, in association with the Visionary Fashion Group.
On their website, Curaçao Fashion Week states its mission, “…to be the leading event in the Caribbean for fashion designers to showcase their collections to a global audience and promote new fashion designers through runway shows and exhibitions, without excluding the most important part of this event which is promote internationally what makes Curaçao special among Caribbean Islands. “A rich culture rooted in history, hospitality, exquisite beaches and spectacular diving, stunning architecture, activities, and adventures for every interest — plus multicultural diversity, intriguing music, art, and much more.”

Some of the designers to be showcased at the historic event will be:
Custo Barcelona, Curacao native, David Paulus, Canadian based Aqua Di Lara (Swimwear), Catherine Malandrino, New York based Jewellry line Adha Zelma; London-based,Tobagonian Romero Bryan, Andrew Harris from Guyana, Francesca Marotta from London and Trinidad’s Gerard Perry.
Love to see the smaller islands of the Caribbean placing themselves among the Elite, making power moves and showing they may be small in size, but not purpose.
