Award winning Reggae Pop superstar Shaggy put some island flavor in Christmas for Music lovers. He recently represented for the islands on NBC Todays show, where he performed Chrismas songs with his own ‘little twist’.

Shaggy is versed at successfully adding Reggae fusion to anything. He previously collaborated on a remix of the track, Christmas in Jamaica’ a song he had originally teamed up with R & B singer and Reality TV Star Toni Braxton back in 2001. The song was an original track from Braxton’s 2001 Christmas album entitled, ‘Snowflakes’

The platinum star, is no stranger to celebrity studded involvements, often using his achievements in a positive way always representing for his island. Through his Shaggy Make a Difference Foundation and sponsors, Shaggy is gearing up for his huge Annual Benefit Concert, Shaggy and Friends, to be held in Kingston, Jamaica on January 7th, in aid of the building of a 15-bed Cardiac intensive Care unit at the Bustamante hospital for Children, in St Andrew, Jamaica.

The show was originally scheduled for December 30th, but due to the unforeseen announcement of the Jamaica Political Elections set for December 29th, the show was postponed. The line up includes popular American Soul/R & B acts such as Lauryn Hill and Eve alongside a host of Caribbean celebrity acts Stephen Marley, Assassin aka. Agent Sasco, I-Octane, Gyptian, Wayne Marshall, Romain Virgo, Tami Chynn, Coco Tea, Bunji Garlin, Fayann Lyons and Half Pint.

Reggae ambassador, Shaggy performed spreading Holiday Island spiced cheer to an average 6.4 million viewers of NBC’s Today Morning Show. Love it! Taking the Caribbean to the worldddd!!!

NEW!! Reggae artiste Gyptian to headline MTV New Years Eve Celebrations

Popular international Dancehall Reggae artiste Gyptian is slated to perform amongst a host of other popular entertainers at the MTV Annual New Years Eve celebrations on December 31st. Each year an average of 2 million viewers gather in Times Square to watch the New years Eve happenings leading up to the traditional dropping of the ball at midnight, to ring in the brand new year.

Gyptian is popular for his hit songs, ‘Hold Yuh’ and ‘Nah Let Go’. He received the Soul Train Award in 2010, for ‘Best New Artiste’. He made mention of the success of ‘Hold Yuh’ telling sources that he was surprised at the recognition the single has received, he said, “To be honest, I didn’t even know this song would be what it is. Wi haffi jus’ sit back and relax and enjoy the good outcome that come outta it…it’s a blessing.”

On announcement of the awesome news, Gyptian expressed his pride in his homeland Jamaica and Reggae Music. He told Irie FM sources in an audio interview, “For Reggae and for us as a little island to get this far, is a good look. For one of our own to be doing it…how better can it get? It must be better and greater…”

Gyptian is also set to perform alongside fellow artistes at the VP records Strictly The Best Concert, to be held in the Bronx, New York; a tribute to the recently deceased VP Member Joel Chin, a stalwart contributor in the Reggae Fraternity. Gyptian recently toured with Damian Marley and Nas on their Long Distance Relative and also teamed up with American R&B singer, Mary J Blige and Busta Rhymes, on a single from her new album, Anything you Want‘.

This is a great look for Gyptian, his island home Jamaica, the entire Caribbean and the Reggae Music Genre! Taking the Caribbean to the World we sehhhh!!!Keep flying that flag high Gyptian!

NEW!! The 9th Annual International Soca Awards takes place this weekend in NYC

This Saturday is D-Day…..,the huge Annual International Soca Awards takes place in the Big Apple, New York City, November 26th, 2011.

The public still has a chance to VOTE for your favorite Soca artiste in the twenty five categories and also get information on the six honoree awards that will be given.

Voting is based on recordings between June 1st, 2010 and May 31st, 2011. The competition looks very interesting this year, with Machel and Kes topping nominations so far. Last year the Soca Song of the Year was JW and Blaze ‘Palance’, and overall Artistes of the Year were Machel Montano and Buffy

The Annual Soul Train Music Awards for 2011, takes place in Atlanta this year. The nominees for ‘Best Caribbean Performance’ category is quite competitive this year. We have Top Caribbean acts such as, “Rihanna, Machel Montano, Vybz Kartel, Kes and Mavado, vying for the coveted award.

The Soul Train Music Awards each year honors the best in Black Entertainment and is judged by top personalities in the Industry. The show will be aired on national television on November 27th. R&B Prince Chris Brown, is leading the Awards with five nominations.

What a line up..who do you think will cop the Award? Hmmm:)
