HAPPY 34TH INDEPENDENCE ANNIVERSARY DOMINICA!!!

Today the island of Dominica ‘Nature Isle of the Caribbean’ celebrates its 34th year as an Independent state. On November 3rd, 1978, the Commonwealth of Dominica was granted Independence from the United Kingdom.

Even before gaining Independence, November 3rd was recognized as, Discovery Day’, the day when Christopher Columbus discovered the island back in 1493.

As local Dominicans and in the Diaspora celebrate this milestone worldwide, we wish them a day of….continued beauty, forward thinking, fun, frolic and safety;)

Trinidad and Tobago will celebrate their 50th year of Independence from Great Britain on August 31st, 2012.

In addition to all the Trinidad 50 festivities leading up to this historic day, and even now, with the 2012 Olympics underway, Soca Monarch Machel Montano has released a very befitting single, ‘Going For Gold.’

NEW!! Trinidadian swimmer George Bovell qualifies for Mens 50m Freestyle Finals at 2012 Olympic Games

Trinidad swimmmer George Bovell placed second in his semi-final heat, successfully moving on to the Mens 50M Freestyle Olympic Finals with a time of 21.77.

The finals will take place tommorrow, Friday August 3rd, 7:30pm (London time).
