Breaking News!! Hollywood filmmaker Anthony ‘Tony’ Scott dead after jumping off California bridge

by Natalie Monique

It has been reported that popular British-born Hollywood Movie Director Anthong ‘Tony’ Scott is dead at age 68. Scott is known for films such as the top grossing film ‘Top Gun’ starring Tom Cruise,’Enemy of the State’, ‘Taking Pelham, 1,2,3’ with Denzel Washington and John Travolta, ‘Beverly Hills Cop 2′,’Man on Fire’ and ‘Unstoppable’ to name a few.

According to Associated Press, Los Angeles County Lt. Joe Bale said Scott’s death is being investigated as suicide. In a statement his spokesperson, Simon Halls said: ‘I can confirm that Tony Scott has passed away. The family asks that their privacy is respected at this time.’

According to the Los Angeles Police, they received several 911 calls on August 19th, saying that someone had jumped from the Vincent Thomas Bridge by San Pedro and Terminal Island in the Los Angeles Harbor. A dive team pulled the body from the water a few hours after and was identified to be that of Tony Scott.

It is alleged that a note with contact information was found in his vehicle and they also later found a suicide note at Scott’s office.

This is truly a great loss in the world of Film….I had the opportunity to work as a Production Assistant on one of Mr Scott’s more recent films, Taking Pelham 1,2,3 …found him to be a truly down-to-earth Director and seemed like a fun, free spirited person. It was my first time working on a major feature film at the time, and def one of my most fun jobs on set to date, long 15 hour days felt like only a few hours.

Condolences to his wife Donna and two sons. Reactions to this tragic and shocking news have been flooding the internet, this is so sad…RIP Mr Scott
